Our extensive scientific programme is aimed at cataract and refractive surgeons of all levels of experience, and includes numerous expert symposia and nearly 200 instructional and surgical skills training courses. The 2016 Ridley Medal Lecture will be given by José Güell during the Opening Ceremony at 10.00 on Sunday morning. The title of the lecture is ’30 Years of Iris Claw IOLs’. Other highlights include the symposia with EuCornea and EURETINA on Saturday, and the ‘You Make the Call’ Video Symposium on Sunday afternoon. We are also pleased to continue with several new and interesting session formats introduced in recent years, designed to further enhance your experience at the Congress. The Poster Village is a highly interactive area where papers are presented by the authors in an informal setting. It has proven very popular with delegates wishing to engage in direct discussion with their colleagues. The Presbyopia Day will take place once again on Tuesday and includes the Presbyopia Workshop, the main symposium on ‘Managing the Ocular Surface Before and After Refractive Surgery’, a presented poster session, a free paper session and instructional courses. On Wednesday the ‘Best of the Best’ review session will take a look at some of the most interesting ideas that will emerge over the course of the congress, and is the perfect way to round off your week here in Copenhagen.
There are a number of sessions and courses aimed specifically at young ophthalmologists and these are highlighted in the YO track in the pocket programme. Other highlighted programme tracks are Cataract Complications & Special Cases, Cornea, Glaucoma and Symposia.
A programme of this size requires a lot of planning, and I would like to thank the members of the Programme and Education committees for their continued hard work. I would also like to thank the individuals and other societies who have contributed to the organisation of a scientific session or course.
